WES PTO Happenings–Where is Westwood PTO money going?

Posted in Uncategorized

Thank you WESTWOOD FAMILIES and community! The PTO has been busy already this year. Due to your generosity and support the PTO has been able to give back to Westwood students and teachers in a variety of ways. Since the start of the school year we have supported the following:

  • PBIS reward/rally day
  • Staff appreciation
  • Bikes for attendance awards
  • 10 new coolers for field trips
  • Blinds for the cafeteria
  • Most recently, $2000 has been awarded in classroom grants. These grants provide students with enhanced opportunities for learning and growth and teachers additional resources to provide these opportunities. Snap Circuits to enhance the construction of the STEM lab, rewards for AR parade, flexible seating for classroom, school wide membership to Starfall, and STEM resources for classroom such as K’Nex, Lego’s, construction sets, etc. have been awarded. The PTO plans to distribute more grants in the spring as well.

Thank you for your continued support.

Fall Volunteer Opportunities

Posted in Uncategorized

Westwood has several volunteer opportunities this Fall. These commitments vary in their time and involvement. Please be sure to check the comments to see if you need to be a Tier 3 volunteer to participate. Please consider initially volunteering for one spot in order to allow others the chance to be involved as well. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Megan Wakefield at meganwestwoodpto@gmail.com.

Volunteer Opportunities included:

  • Book Fair 9/17-9/20
  • City Saver Ice Cream Party 9/21
  • City Saver Mr. Bond Party 9/28
  • United Way Reward Cookout–The United Way supports Westwood Elementary through our “Fuel Pack” and “FLIPS” programs. This year the teachers at Westwood are trying to reach a financial goal. If they reach this goal they will attend a cookout at Westwood on October 10th. The PTO is looking for a few volunteers to support this reward by grilling food for the cookout (food will be provided).
  • PBIS Reward/Rally Day–the next reward day has been scheduled for October 26th with a Fall Frenzy theme.
