Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the Westwood PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) board it is our privilege to encourage family involvement at school. But first, we think that it is important to explain what the PTO is all about.
For those who may not know, the Westwood PTO is an organization of parents/families and teachers. The Westwood PTO’s goal is to foster a nurturing and caring environment that strives for continued parent and community involvement in helping build a better educational environment for our children. We also promote a school community where teachers and administrators can do their best work with the resources we can provide and help make school fun and engaging. Research shows that students whose families are involved in their education have better grades and fewer discipline problems! Through fundraising efforts, the Westwood PTO is able to donate funds to purchase educational materials, positive behavior rewards, school equipment, upgrade the campus and sponsor countless other school activities.
For the Westwood PTO to be effective and truly representative of the school, it is essential to have family involvement from as many parents as possible. Many working families feel that they cannot be included in the Westwood PTO because they cannot come to every meeting or be on campus during the day. Please do not worry! There are endless possibilities in ways you can help through either donation or volunteering. Whatever your own level of flexibility, Westwood PTO always appreciates their family participants, as does our teachers and staff. Keep in mind that by participating in the Westwood PTO, you will get to enjoy interacting with the children, become friends with other families, and accomplish things that truly make a difference in the lives of Westwood students!
We look forward to meeting your Westwood TIGER!
